Offeredhere for your consideration is the vintage/antique hard cover book, "Tom Sawyer", "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" by Samuel L. Clemens. I've seen a lot of "Tom Sawyer" books, but not one like this one. The front cover board is very nicely illustrated. I don't know if it had a jacket or not. I'm not sure when the book was actually published. The only date, 1876, I could find is at the bottom of the Preface page. The book was published by The Goldsmith Publishing Company, Chicago. ...It is the "Complete New Edition Illustrated". At the bottom of the page Opposite the Preface page it says it was manufactured in the United States of America. The book has 251pages, 35 Chapters and 5 illustrations.
The book is in very good preowned vintage condition for its age. The binding is tight, but the paper on the back of the cover boards has separated on the bottom front 1" and along the edge of the back cover board. The pages have darkened with age. There are darker stains on some of the pages. Most are on near or on the edges where there is no writing. The rest range from narrow lines to 1/8" wide. There is a 1/2" tear on the edge of pages 29/30. There is a 1/2" long tear on the top of the blank last page. It has a 1/8" piece missing. There are three bigger and 3 smaller lighter spots on the front coverboard and the coverboards have darkened and faded with time There are the usual rubs, bumps, edge and corner wear you'd expect on any vintage preowned book. There are no written on or dog eared pages. I wrap it in tissuepaper and bubble wrap if necessary. I use peanuts and/or more bubble wrap orair pillows to ensure your item arrives safely. I go the extra mile so pleasedon’t give me a lower rating because of circumstances beyond my control.
