They have metal sole plates.
This is a nice old original shoe last form used in a shoe factory for manufacturing a shoe.
These type wooden molds were used to build the shoes to the correct size and form as they traveled through the factory from start to finish.
This is made of Maple... and is in really nice condition with a satiny finish.
It is stamped with the size 8-1/2 E .
