The Heddon Vamp Spook Lure is a series 9750 and measures 4 1/2" in length. This antique lure was first produced in 1933 and from then on was a regular staple in the James Heddon and Son fishing lure lineup for over 50 years. The antique fishing lure was made in a wide array of era specific colors and shades. During its time its seen body shapes vary from tapered to thin to fat. The Vamp Lure was made from various materials wood as well as plastic. Through its lifespan the antique lure ...saw hardware configuration changes from the L rig, to Toilet Seat, and on to 2 Piece flap rig, and finally after 1948 they moved to surface rig such as our example. The fishing lure itself over time saw changes in its eyes from glass eyes, zinc eyes, tack nail eyes and finally painted eyes. Dependent on era the Vamp Lure even saw changes in the diving lip and was even available for a short time via special order without the lip.
The antique Heddon Lure could be found housed in both down and up leaping bass boxes, brush boxes, banner, and even later cello boxes or window boxes. This auction is for a scare Plastic Lip Variant in Yellow Shore finish. This plastic lure has 3T and uses Surface Rig Hardware. The lure is in Yellow SHore, Heddon's color code XRY. .
