Click images to enlarge Description A fascinating vintage battery operated monkey, this toy was made with a spring loaded tail in order for it to be held on an arm, shoulder, chair, etc.. Made in Japan by Alps, and circa the 1950's. The box also indicates some involvement in the manufacturing process by Rock Valley Toys - Iwaya Seisakusho.
About 12 inches long from the top of the head to the end of the tail, it operates perfectly with lighted eyes. Pressing one button begins him opening and closing his arms while the other button raises his left arm as his hat raises and mouth opens and closes. His head nods during both actions.
The toy is missing one cymbal, but retains his cup, cane, and a beret. No signs of play wear. The battery box is clean.
The original box is in good condition with only minor small tears hardly worth mentioning.
