Vintage Watch (1970 ' S) With Interesting History
Item History & Price
My father served in the Royal Engineers Regiment whist he was on National Service in the early 1960's, and his commanding officer was a Captain Charles Merry.
After National Service my dad became a civil engineer but kept in touch regularly with Charles Merry , Charles was also an engineer... and worked for NASA in the mid 60's up to his retirement in the mid 1970', this watch was presented to him when he worked for NASA.
Charles never had any family and my dad inherited the watch in about 2010 when Charles passed away.
This is how the watch ended up in my dads collection and now in my possession.
The watch is a Timex automatic and works fine (ive had it on test for a few hours-but please note its not been thoroughly tested so no warrenty given). My dad told me it was some sort of antimagnetic watch that was suited to engineering work, but I cant confirm that.
Its in nice condition with the same strap as when my dad inherited it, but I cant confirm if the strap is original.
Please ask if you have any questions.
