GOLD PLATED HALF HUNTER
POCKET WATCH
This pocket watch was manufactured by the Lancashire Watch Co Ltd, Prescott, England, between 1889 - 1910. At the time this was the only large watch manufacturer in England but eventually succumbed to competition from the large American and Swiss manufacturers in 1910. They manufactured numerous models between these years totalling almost 1 million watches.
The rear cover of this watc...h has the initials of the original owner nicely engraved. On the inside of the outer rear cover is the word Star with a serial number of 318325, engraved on the inner rear cover is English Make with the words this case guaranteed to wear 10 years with the same serial number. Dimensions: diameter of watch including case is 50 mm weight 112.7 g
On the movement it is signed by the Lancashire Watch Co Ltd Prescott England with the serial number 72935.The watch face has Lancashire Watch Co Ltd Prescott England, the face of the watch and the inner glass is almost in perfect condition as are the hands, including the second hand. The watch runs well and keeps very good time. The half hunter cover glass is in very good condition and the gold plating shows very little signs of wear although there are 2 small dents on the half hunter cover (see photos). There are also a few other minor marks on the case but the general appearance is very good for a watch of over 100 years of age. All three covers open and clip shut as they should and the hinges are in good condition.
The overall condition of this watch is above average and exudes quality, a lovely addition to any collection.
