This sale is for an Antique Ladies hat ( Bonnet) from the Civil war era 1870 - 1890's. This is a Bonnet for the back of a Ladies head over a bun or braid . It is formed over what feels like a wire frame that is very skillfully sculpted and shaped. The layers of fabric and linings all help to give it a rigid support to fit tight to the back of head. The sea-foam velvet is soft and pliable. There is black net fabric over the sea-foam ribbon outer edge and it is decorated with black sequ...ins all sewn by hand. There are cut steel metal decorative ornaments on this at the front and also at the back. The only damage I can see is there is a bit of loss the the feather plume on this.This hat is 7 1/2" wide and 8 " tall .This is a Fabulous Hat/ Bonnet!!! The final 2 pictures show a cardboard and metal tag inside with either stock or inventory numbers which indicate this may have been from a museum collection at one time.
