Up for auction today is this very nice vintage Sheaffer Fountain Pen and mechanical pencil set in its original box. Pictured is a Sheaffer Lifetime fountain pen that is the plunger type and a matching mechanical pencil. The pencil works fine but as I have limited knowledge of this type of collectible the fountain pen is "as found" and I have made no attempt to clean it . The plunger unscrews from the top and plunges up and down okay but I'm not sure if it works as it should when refill...ing the pen with ink. The nib is 14k gold and it states that it is a Sheaffer - 79 - Lifetime and I believe it to be a fine point. There is a white dot as shown in the pictures provided but as similar ones have the dot in a different area on the pen once again I am not sure if this a "white dot Sheaffer". The metal ring around the centre of the pen is discolored and there is a small dot indentation on the cap. This set comes with its original box which has various ink marks inside the lid. Very nice set at a low opening bid price.
