This antique Victorian era Pullman style 3 wire spiral springs coil crinolette cushion bustle pad support dates from the 1880s. It is made of an off white cream color cotton fabric, with 3 long wire spiral spring coils sewn inside and 2 smaller wire spiral coils sewn undernea...th creating an extended bustle pad. They are attached onto a linen tape covered wire square frame bracket support with a linen cloth strap waistband belt and adjustable buckle closure on the front. This unique underpinnings undergarment would have been worn under a bustle skirt dress to expand the fullness and create volume to support the back drape of the fanned train skirt. The bustle pad measures 7 inches wide, with 3 coils at 10 inches long, 2 coils at 5 inches long and a 29 inch waistband belt. It is in good as-is condition with some wear, fraying, rips and age spots, rust stains on the cloth fabric covering the coils (see close-ups). This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of antique Victoriana underpinnings wearable art!
