This exquisite antique Mennonite Quilt was obtained from a Kansas estate along with another one also listed. It was made between 1900 and 1930 and is all hand made. It was made by someone with lots of experience and remains beautiful and an absolute treasure to this day. The pattern is known as Robbing Peter to Pay Paul and was done in two separate calico fabrics on the top and backed with a wide piece of muslin. The colors remain bright as it was obviously treasured and well ca...red for. The calicos are like little dot patterns and at a distance look like 2 solid colors but are in fact much more effective. It is displayed on a queen bed, but could be used on a full or even a twin, draped over the side. I see no flaws on the front of the quilt.The muslin backing appears to have an area of staining (see 4th picture), but on closer examination one can make out letters and I have to believe that this was either a seal on a large feed bag or maybe markings at the end of a bolt of muslin...I cannot be sure. In any event, it does not deter from the beautiful display of this handmade quilt.
