Vintage Westinghouse Watthour Meter Type OB Single Phase From 1930

Nominal Current Rating: 10 A |
My intention when I bought this was to create a desk lamp out of the meter, an idea I got by viewing listings on eBay. I suppose my father being an electrician makes it nostalgic item for me, so I found it a very cool item.
I have not done anything to clean... it up, other than a damp cloth. For restoration, I would not do too much because I consider its current condition to be excellent for my intended use.
I did hook the meter up to a flood light to see if the wheel would spin, and it does. In my test, it took about 5 seconds for the wheel to make one complete revolution. If I did make this into a lamp, I wanted the wheel to spin whenever the light was switched on.
There is a metal strip with the number 402 attached to the faceplate, and for my purpose I would remove it, but this is the text I can see: Westinghouse Watthour Meter Type OB S. 425956 Single Phase, 115-120 Volts, 10 Amps Serial 11 641 905 Two Wire, 60 Cycles (uses the cycles symbol) Westinghouse Electric & Mfg. Company Newark Works, Newark, N.J., U.S.A. 402
I’m guessing plate with the number 402 is a number assigned by the power company to identify the meter uniquely.
This meter casing appears to be steel, and is medium heavy, so forgive the shipping charges.
If you are looking for a working meter, I must say that my test was not thorough, but it did seem to work, at least for my purposes. But I'll officially say it is not tested.
Take a look at the photos.
Thanks!
