This beauty features an absolutely stunning American Walnut cabinet, ribbon cut inlays, attractive gold dial and terrific performance on the AM broadcast band.&...nbsp;Cabinet: The American Walnut cabinet is an absolute stunner. Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set. The side ribbon cut inlays really catch your eye. A waterfall top design certainly adds to the Art Deco appeal. Jet black trim completes the cabinet with the perfect contrast. This little beauty is sure to attract attention no matter which room in the home or office you choose to display it in.Dial & Knobs: The gold sunburst dial is quite attractive. A top mounted dial lamp illuminates the dial for easy dark or dim room tuning. All letters and numbers are legible and show very little signs of wear. Both knobs are in perfect shape and control on/off & volume.Grill Cloth: The 1930’s stylegrill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring a yellow gold color with a standard weave design. This grill cloth can also bepurchased separately on our other eBay auctions. Chassis: All tubes in the 5 tube chassis were testedwith any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors werechecked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced orre-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimalperformance. Using the included copper line antenna the radio plays very well. I'm able to receive all my local stations on the AM broadcast band with good tone and plenty volume.
The Cabinet’s Finish and Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinetsundergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the naturalbeauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. Weachieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sandthe cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, andblemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We makesure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detractfrom the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers areapplied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers andtoners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished inthe factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through aprofessional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room.Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allowsthe lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sandingfollows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Ozglaze rub. During the restoration process on this radio a veneer chip was repaired on the top right corner of the cabinet. It has been filled, blended and does not detract from the beauty of the set. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, thefinal outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster&shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready toproudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office. Dimensions: 12" W x 8” H x 6" D Approximate Shipping Cost: $20 East Coast, $30 Central and $42 West Coast
Antique tube radio reception can differ greatly depending on location, length of antenna, time of day and amount of interference in different areas. Many modern day appliances can also interfere with reception. This is a 75+ year old AM radio. It's reception, sound and performance should not be expected to compare to a modern radio with today's technology. Playing capability is accurately described based on my location, surroundings and hooked up to a 12’ copper line antenna. The antenna will be included with the sale but I cannot guarantee reception quality in your area. It may differ (better or worse) depending on your location, surroundings, distance from AM broadcasts in your vicinity and interference. Antique Radio Electronics, whether restored or un-restored, are by nature hazardous due to their voltage, design, age and should not be operated unattended or for great lengths at a time. Any operation, repairs or other adjustments are done at your own risk
