VINTAGE 1962 SLIM ZIPPO CIGARETTE LIGHTER STEEL SERVICE MFG KANSA CITY MO
Item History & Price
Steel Service - Steel Mfg. & Warehouse - K.C. Mo.
You are bidding on a vintage 1962 Zippo Slim Cigarette Lighter.
The front of the lighter reads, "Steel Service - Steel Mfg. & Warehouse - K. C. Mo." and bears the Steel Service company logo.
In 1921, Kansas City was booming. Construction was going at a break-neck pace, and steel products became more important than ever before. The problem was, companies supplying those ...products were having trouble getting the steel they needed custom cut and delivered on time. Steel Manufacturing & Warehouse Company was created to help solve this problem. When we opened our doors in 1921, we made the commitment to do things only one way - the right way. We committed to always put the needs of our customers first and provide the best possible products and service in the industry at a competitive price. That's the tradition this company started over 90 years ago, and the tradition continues to this day.
The bottom of the lighter bears the date code for 1962 ensuring us that the lighter was manufactured in 1962.
The lighter has been used and fired. The flint wheel spins around & around easily, but did not grab or spark, leading me to believe that it needs a new flint and fluid.
The lid opens and closes nicely with the distinctive "Zippo snap" and has very minimal wobble.
The lighter measures 1 1/2" x 2 1/4" and bears the expected surface marks from age, normal use and pocket wear. As seen in the 1st photo, there is a small "dink" along the bottom edge. The advertising is clear and sharp without fading.
This vintage Zippo Slim lighter date coded 1962 and bearing advertising for Steel Service Steel Mfg. and Warehouse Co., will be a fine addition to any collection of vintage Zippos or Advertising memorabilia.
