"Aunt Louisa's Cube Puzzles: Yankee Doodle" puzzle blocks in a wooden box with a sliding lid; chromolithographed image of Yankee Doodle riding a horse through a group of injured and fleeing characterized Native Americans.
Box cover is lithographed with the inscription: AUNT LOUISA'S CUBE PUZZLES YANKEE DOODLEMcLoughlin Bros., N.Y.
Sliding box lid has wear, some marks and di...scoloration. There are a couple of "chips" missing in the image on the lid mainly on the right side. Also on the right side near the wooden edge there is some "raising" to the lithographed image along with some "bubbling".
Overall Dimensions: 2 1/2" x 9 7/8" x 11 1/2"
The wooden box has some wear, marks, discoloration and stains to the painted sides, edges and bottom. A few small chips and scratches are also present. There is a small piece of wood missing on the bottom of the box which would run along the edge. (As seen in the pictures above)

Yankee Doodle riding a horse through a group of injured and fleeing characterized Native Americans, Yankee Doodle signing the Declaration of Independence of a flag draped table with wigged men standing in the background, Yankee Doodle seated on the steps of the White House blowing cigar smoke a children play on the lawn and a personification Liberty looks on from the doorway,
Yankee Doodle on a horse tipping his cap to British soldiers, a unicorn and a lion as the exit the country through a gate labeled "UNITED STATES", (As seen in the pictures above)
and Yankee Doodle riding his horse past cheering crowds.
The blocks have wear to the edges and corners.The lithographed images show some wear, marks, discoloration, and some "chipping" to the paper.
I think that this set originally came with the children's book "Yankee Doodle" by McLoughlin Bros., however this book is NOT INCLUDED. The book featured "guide sheets" or images of the other possible puzzle combinations. You can view these by a google search.
This is a RARE Cube Puzzle Toy from McLoughlin Bros. that is an incredible piece of history!It has some wear and flaws but doesn't come around often!
