Vintage Red Lacquer Oriental handkerchief or Trinket Box ideal for storing photographs or keepsakes. Made of either Papier Mache or probably thin wood. It has nice rounded edges to the lid and the exterior of the base. Interior is painted or lacquered red. Photo is making it look more orange than it is. It is definitely red/orangey red
Condition is really good considering its age which I would guess is the 1920s. Structurally strong with a few scratches.../wear marks to the exterior. Some rubbing to the edge of the lid and to the base of box which is also rubbed and dull. Decorated all over with muted gold on the black. I have tried to document every fault which has made it sound worse than it is. Most of them are not particularly noticeable
Measures; 18-19cm sq and is 3.5cm deep with the lid on.
