RARE Antique Vintage Porcelain Enamel Over Cast Iron High Wall Mount Toilet Tank

Ususally I refrain from using RARE in a listing. Such subjective terms depend on whose eyes are looking. But in almost 25 years of collecting antique toilet tanks at local auctions, this is the only cast iron high wall mount tank I’ve ever seen.
If you’re doing an authentic restoration, this is the piece you’ve been looking for. It’s not dated nor does it have any manufacturer’s marks. My best guess would be Victorian in age, since early 20th Century tanks are most often p...orcelain china. It’s possible this tank may have been used in a commercial setting.
The white porcelain enamel is almost perfect, with no visible chips or scratches. There is one small (¼”) repaired chip on the top rear edge that can’t be seen when the tank is viewed from below, and some roughness where the fulcrum attaches to the tank (also invisible when in use).
The cast iron likewise is perfect, with no cracks, breaks or repairs. The front, sides and bottom are smooth and have none of the common casting defects (blowholes, shrinkage cavaties, etc). The back is a bit rougher, with a casting defect in the center called “elephant skin” (an irregular or wrinkled shape).
This tank mounts to the wall with two tabs on the top rear, spaced 15¾” between centers, so it’s compatible with modern construction with studs on 16” centers). It has an open top with no lid. Sale includes the fulcrum about which the pull lever pivots.
The inside plumbing has been completely restored with new old stock bronze or brass and rubber parts. The float ball is copper. The escutcheon on the outside base is nickel-plated brass, and the supply connection is cast bronze.
The physical dimensions are:• 12 inches high including tabs (tank only is 11 inches)
• 18 inches wide including top lip (tank itself is 17 inches)
• 9 inches deep (tank itself is 8½ inches)
• 44 lb 3 oz heavy
This listing is for the tank, fulcrum and inner hardware only. Buyer to provide pull lever, chain and handle, down and supply pipes, and a toilet with correct spud.
Local pickup is encouraged and preferred, but I’ll also ship. It’s heavy (shipping weight 50 lbs from 50039). There’s a $20 handling fee for shipping. This is the cost of packing materials (EPS rigid foam insulation) plus insurance and carrier pickup. I don’t charge for the time I spend on bullet-proof packaging.
Ships insured by UPS Ground (the default with eBay shipping) or, if you’re in their service area (eight Upper Midwest states), Spee-Dee Delivery. Spee-Dee is very reliable and about half the cost of the national carriers, but can’t be purchased through eBay. Please ask for a revised invoice if your choice is Spee-Dee Delivery.
