Original Description:
Presented for your consideration is a scarce electric shelf clock from ca 1940, a figural bronze plated metal "Amateur Hour" clock by United Clock Corp. The clock stands 12 1/2" long, 11" tall, 3 3/4" thick. It depicts Major Bowes, the originator of the radio(and later TV with Ted Mack) show, at the side with the gong in his hand and bell below. Above the clock are 3 children singing as one plays the accordion, and to their right is a man playing a tuba. At the bottom is "Amateur Hour...." An electric bulb is in the center of the tuba and it lights when the clock is running. The clock is in very good, original condition with no holes, cracks or dents in the case, and the clock runs quietly and keeps time.
