YOU ARE BIDDING ON A COMPLETE 3-VOLUME SET OF THE 1963/1964 PRE VATICAN II DAILY OFFICE IN LATIN AND ENGLISH PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION BELOW CAREFULLY BEFORE BIDDING. For your consideration is this long out of print, extremely hard to find edition of the popular "Collegeville Edition" of the Divine Office in English and Latin published by the Liturgical Press from 1963 to 1964 (when ...Volume 3 was released). This is not a reprint, but the original edition. In any edition, they are hard to find and run out of print quickly. This is a rare opportunity to get these books together and ready to pray! Please be aware that this is a bilingual edition of the Roman Breviary Text. The Latin is the Pius XII version of the Psalms and the English is derived from Confraternity translation adapted to the texts of the Roman Breviary. This is quite prayerful and the English is elegant and uplifting. The entire text of all eight hours of the Divine Office(Matins, Lauds, Prime, Terce, Sext, None, Vespers and Compline) for every dayof the liturgical year is included, along with the propers for each type ofFeast, each Liturgical season, every day of the week, and tables for determining the order of precedence of Feasts. Each Hour has a brief introduction identifying the major themes and motifs of the hour and suggests areas of reflection to consider while praying. All text is in English and Latin and follows the forms used before Vatican II.All three volumes have faded red edging. The text blocks for all 3 volumes are very tight and can withstand years of use! Each volume comes with its own slipcovers. All three volumes have prayer cards for the common prayers albeit, only Vol 3 has its additional Absolutions & Blessings card (can be transferred to use with the other two volumes!). All three volumes have the handy pocket in the endpaper. Volumes 1 and 3 have some separation of the endpapers (frontand back) from the text block (photos above). Corners were snipped by previous owner as well. Volume 2 appears very solid and virtually unused! No separation there, tight pages, even the prayer card appears unblemished likely since the 1960s! I did not use its prayer card. The ribbons are faded but are not frayed, damaged, or otherwise rotted. US based buyers only. All sales final.
