Here is a stunning pair of vintage costume jewelry pieces from designer VICTORIA VARGA - purchased at the San Francisco Museum of Art in the 1980s. (Price then was about $600.) They're 24K gold plated and make quite a striking ensemble.
The collar-style necklace (almost a choker as it hangs right at the bottom of the neck) is 16" long and has a toggle closure. It a bit heavy - weighs 11 ounces - and has an elegant cluster design (kind of imagine a long row of tiny dangly g...old bananas). The necklace does not show any real signs of wear and is in near mint condition. You can see the VARGA signature in the photo of the toggle closure.
The pierced earrings have two scalloped shapes joined in inverted fashion. They measure about 1 1/8" across x 3/4" long. As you can see in the photos, they have been worn more than the necklace and do show a few signs of plating wear (more on one earring than the other), but this is most notable upon close view, and if you have long hair will hardly be noticed. They both have the VARGA signature on the underside.
