This listing is for “Walt Disney Treasures: Disneyland USA”, a 2-disc DVD set of four Disneyland television specials broadcast between 1955 and 1970, and hosted by Walt Disney. This is a limited edition set – only 150, 000 were issued in 2001 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Walt Disney’s birth. Featuring introductions by film historian Leonard Maltin, the broadcasts are in color and black and white with a total running time of approximately 3hrs and 48mins.&nb...sp;The original metal tin has some dings and the finish shows wear in spots - please see the last photo - but the set is complete with the original paper inserts and the 2 discs, which have only been viewed once and have no scratches. A collectible lithograph is also included – a 4 ½” x 7” version of the Tomorrowland Autopia poster, one of the park’s original attractions when it opened in 1955. Disc 1 includes: • “The Disneyland Story” (October 27, 1954) Take a look back at the origins of the park, beginning with the very first episode of the "Disneyland" tv series, as Walt Disney leads a tour of the studio and presents a model of Disneyland Park, then under construction. This episode attracted an estimated audience of 90 million - virtually every television household in America.
•“Dateline Disneyland” (opening-day special, July 17, 1955).Relive the live opening day celebration with hosts Art Linkletter, Bob Cummings, and Ronald Reagan. Disc 2 includes:• “Disneyland After Dark” (April 15, 1962). Follow Walt as he takes viewers on a tour of Disneyland after dark. The entertainment includes Louis Armstrong, Sammy Davis Jr., Fess Parker, Annette Funicello, the Osmond Brothers, and others.
