7 Piece Chinese Porcelain Lazy Susan/Sweet Meat Dishes - Fighting Roosters Pattern
Item History & Price
The condition of all pieces is excellent except one of the 6 side dishes has been visibly repaired. All dishes are photographed once individually - the repaired one is the last, photographed side on so it can be seen where it has been glued.
This is a beautiful set which has been rather difficult for me to date accurately. I have found the pattern used in items as far back as the 19th century yet the stamp on the base of each dish is actually a Kangxi mark. Now Kangxi died in 1722 a...nd I was a little stumped as I didn't quite believe this was quite that old.
So this is one of my few items I've gotten a second opinion off of a more experienced antique dealer and the likelihood is this is from the earlier half of the 20th Century and the Kangxi mark (painted over the glaze) was simply to indicate "in the style of" or similar.
Questions to the exact date remain so I will allow you to decide for yourself using the information I have provided. Often more discerning collectors browsing my items will know a little more than I do after all!
Approx size:30cm/12" across when all laid out
Weight is close to 1Kg total
