DESCRIPTION
FOR SALE:This is from a very large camera estate in western PA that has been sitting unused in storage for many years. Note: I am not a photographer, collector nor expert. I am selling estate items. I am not able to assess condition in any professional manner. This item is being sold AS IS and may need cleaning and restoration to be used. Sold for parts or restoration. PLEASE ask any questions important to your satisfaction BEF...ORE bidding.
ITEM: This is a large antique brass Petzval type lens. (brass tube with a lens at each end.) The as a brass outer tube with a knob that moves the inner tube in and out to focus. This also has a brass lens hood that screws on the front. Each lens screws into the tube. The only marking I see is Darlot Paris engraved in a fancy script on the brass and below that a capital D with a sideways V or maybe A. Then, the ring where it would attach to a camera is marked Made in France. The tube without the hood measures about 3 1/2 inches long. The hood adds another inch. There is a leather cap for the front. The glass lenses are about 4 cm , or 1 5/8 iches in diameter. The tube is about 2 inches in diameter. The flange where it would attach to a camera is about 2 7/8 inches in diameter. When held away from a piece of paper, a distant image comes into focus at about 5 1/2 inches away. (I've been asked this before to determine approximate focal length.) The lenses have some haziness and I would assume they need cleaning. I have no way giving a professional opinion as to condition. The lens is being sold AS IS for parts or restoration. Please see pictures and ask any questions.
