Here we have for auction a superb vintage "Belvedere" 2 briar estate pipe in the straight 'pot' style, with a very lovely grain to the briar, crafted by the famous British pipe maker 'Charatan'.
I used the following information provided by the Charatan 'pipedia' page to date the pipeto the 'First Lane Era' - 1961-65.
- "Presence of the writing 'Charatan's Make London England' on 2 lines- "In the CP logo, the C enters the P"- "The CP logo is thicker then in previous er...as"
The pipe has been carefully smoked and remains in very good condition - just a few light dingsand scratches on the briar - and some light discolouration to the stem.
There is a shallow layer of carbon in the chamber, and a little on the bowl rim.The stem fixes very securely to the shank, and air flows through the pipe freely.
On one side of the shank is "Charatan's Make" above "London England" then "Belvedere", with model number "2" on the reverse, and the letter "S" on the underside.
The "CP" logo adorns the stem in white, with "Regd No 203573" on the reverse.
Thoroughly cleaned and ready to enjoy.Sold as seen.
