Up for sale is a unique antique L. R. Nelson Can't Beat Em Water Sprinkler. It appears similar to the cast iron spot sprinklers manufactured by the company in the early 1900s but this item appears to be made of some type of ceramic or clay material. I did extensive research but could not find another example of this specific sprin...kler. I feel that not many of these items survived because of the fragile material. It is glazed with a brown paint. The condition is excellent with no noticeable cracks or fissures. There are a few minor scuffs to the paint. Please see the attached photos to judge for yourself. The sprinkler measures 4 1/2 inches in diameter and weighs about 2 lbs.The L. R. Nelson Manufacturing Co. was founded in 1911 in Peoria, Illinois by Lewen R. Nelson. It was originally known as Central Brass and Stamping Company. It was sold in 2008 to three separate buyers. The Nelson Sprinkler division was acquired by Fiskars, a Finland-based conglomerate, in 2014 and the headquarters were moved from Peoria to Wisconsin. Please feel free to ask me any questions that you might have. I tried to share all of the details that I have uncovered during my research. Thanks for looking!
