This auction is for an 1845 W. W. WILBUR AUCTION & COMMISSION MERCHANT, SLAVE TOKEN, This brass coin was used at their merchant store in Charleston, SC prior to the Civil War that which was known to have auctioned slaves prior to the 1872. This brass token reads “COINCAT, ONLY A PENNY, NOTARY PUBLIC, BROKER, MERCHANTS AND MANUFACTURES AGENT.” It shows an auctioneer with a hammer standing on an auction block .This token is made of brass, is 1 1/8” in diameter, weighs 10 grams, is ...in used but very good condition and is RARE.
