Orig 1944 WWII Snapshot CAPTURED GERMAN PHOTO Shot Down Me-109 * Southern France From a local estate, this auction is for an original b/w snapshot that shows 3 German soldiers examining the wreckage of a Messerschmitt Me-109. The photo came from the estate of a veteran who participated in Operation Dragoon, the invasion of southern France in August 1944. This is an Original vintage photo and NOT a reprint. There is an old pen note on the back that reads “Got this print off a ...captured German, shows them looking over an American airplane shot down” (plane is actually a German Me-109). The dimensions are 2 ¼” x 3 ¼” and the overall condition is Excellent with very light wear but the image is a bit blurred (as photographed by the German).
