This is a reduced size production of the medal designed by Augustus Saint Gaudens on the obverse, and by a travesty of artistic injustice, his reverse design for the original medal had been replaced bythat of Charles Barber of the U.S. mint, which is also the reverse here. The inscription space reads: C. EMMERICH &CO.

I sculpted the 9 1/2 foot tall bronze Saint Paul statue that is in the Cathedral of Saint Paul, MN, and also painted what is likely the largest mural by an individual artist in the Twin Cities. I started collecting ancient coins about 14 years ago as a way to study and improve my skills at bas-relief sculpting with these miniature masterpieces in hand.
