Known as 'Dora' by its pilots, the FW-190 D series represented the final development of the famous FW-190 line of aircraft. The earlier marks, engined with the BMW radial engine lacked the high altitude performance needed to combat the Allies long range bomber fleet.. The Junkers Jumo 217 was available in large numbers given its use in many of the Luftwaffe bomber aircraft and it was therefore selected for powering the 'D' series. This mark was considered a stop gap m...easure as the TA-152 was being readied for production, however, the pilots were impressed with the 'D' series and used it extensively in the last months of the conflict. This model was never produced by Cruver, but is presented as tho it was. A beautiful model, it has a wingspan of 5 1/2" and a fuselage of 5 1/2". It is marked 'FW-190' along with the boxed Germany and a mold date of 5-44. This model is cast using black urethane resin to produce a very stable, beautiful model.
