My kids have grown up, moved out, and it's time to downsize. I'm selling my precious antique jewelry collection.
This is a fabulous pair of genuine 14K Gold Floating Opal earrings. Like all Floating Opals, each glass bulb on this pair of earrings contains Natural Opal chips that float freely in liquid. The glass bulbs each measure just shy of 1 inch tall, and are topped with elaborately etched 14K Gold caps. The caps are connected to 14K Gold ear hoops.&...nbsp; Total length of each earring, from the top of the hoop to the bottom of the glass bulb, is just over 1-1/2 inches.
The opals are magnificent! The main color is white, and they burst with flecks of teal, aqua, red, pink, green and yellow!
Horace Welch invented the "Floating Opal" in 1920. He spent the remainder of his career patenting and perfecting the design, until his death in 1947. After his passing, the adoration of the Floating Opal lived on and many companies began producing their own versions once his patent expired.
The etched Gold caps and ear hoops all test as 14K.
The earrings are in excellent condition. Like all my items, I'm starting at 0.99, no reserve.
