Very rare hand painted & signed tile! This is not screen painted like other Berggren tiles. Possible history is below. Please note crack and condition as shown in photos.
This tile appears to be handpainted and signed Berggren, by Berggren-Trayner founding artist Audrey Berggren.
Berggren founded the company in Chicago while her husband was deployed in World War II. Hand-painted Swedish folk-art inspired wooden pieces were initially sold through Marshall-Field department stores. ...Later, in the 1950s, and '60s, the company's tiles and enamel wares were mostly screen printed.
