Offered here is a very rare, large and unique archive from the estate of one of the first (if not the first) lady commercial cinematographers, Miss Cleo Parker of Texas and New York. It is a collection of pamphlets, brochures, news clippings, articles, magazines, letters, movie scripts, receipts and over 80 photographs. Also included is one of her cameras, a Revere Eye- Matic Magazine Eight with its leather case and light meter. Many of the photographs were taken by Mr. Larr...y Kronquist, a renowned cameraman in his own right. Some of his photos of Norma Jean/ Marilyn Monroe were published.
Many of the photos in this collection have been enlarged. One is 15" x 18" without the mat. Some are 10" x 14", others are 8" x 10" and some are smaller. Most were taken in the early to late '40's. Some may be from the early 50's. I am unsure. Most of the photos are clear and in good condition. Some of them are still attached to the black album paper back to back. The album had fallen apart from age and was not with them when I acquired them. Some of the papers and magazines show staining and some yellowing. There is a slight odor from being stored in plastic sleeves for about 70 years (not mildew or mold). There is so much written word in this collection it would be impossible to tell about it all. My photos are a major part of the description. I am selling this collection just as I found it. As is!
Miss Parker was a very beautiful and talented lady who filmed "Wings Around South America" along with many other shorts for television and travelogues. Some of her work was in Columbia, Ecuador, Polynesia and anywhere in the world she was needed. There are two Camera magazines included with articles in them about her. She was also featured in United Artist "The Feminine Angle" with Ilka Chase "The Cameraman is a Lady". I wish I could keep this part of history for a while longer but I am older and now is the time to pass it on. I sincerely hope someone out there will appreciate and cherish this archive and keep it together as I believe Miss Cleo Parker would like that.
