Very Rare Raketa Large Vintage Wristwatch. Condition is Used. Dispatched with Royal Mail 1st Class.
For sale is my beloved Raketa 2609HA movement watch. Produced in the late 80's, just before the fall of the soviet Union. During the last day's of Gorbachov's reign, when he initiated the political movements of perestroika and glasnost. This was partly about openness with the west (almost demanded after chernobyl)... Gorbachov famously met with and was very friendly with president... Reagan at the time. This watch is a symbol of the burgeoning "friendship" between the nations and a rather cool piece of history, as well as a striking piece of jewellery!
It was produced in the famous Raketa factory and has the robust, accurate mechanical wind up mechanism, the 2609HA.
It is in great condition and keeps great time. The acrylic has a few fine scratches which can only be seen in certain light. The case has a high shine finish and is in great condition.
I have paired it with a shark mesh bracelet which suits the watch, but looks equally as good on a nice dark brown leather or even a colourful nato strap. Lug width is 18mm.
This watch is, as far as I can find, a one of kind piece for sale on the market just now. A unique, bright and interesting watch that never fails to impress and start a conversation!
