This auction is for a rare 1950's era DeForest of California pottery Henny Hen soup tureen with baby chick ladle. The hen & baby chick are so cute. They both have the sweetest faces. The glaze is shiny and has beautiful colors. This piece is special and in really good condition considering it's age. There is a small chip on the inside part of the bottom bowl's rim (see close up photo). It doesn't take away from it beauty, you don't see it when the lid is on and even when uncovered you ...have to look in, since it's on the inner part of the rim. The bottom base is marked DeForest Cali USA. (see last photo). This piece measures about 9 1/2" wide and is 9 1/2" high at the top of hen's comb and 13" long from the comb to the tail feather. The baby chick ladle is 10" long. It's heavy weighing 6 lbs. There is only one other Henny Hen soup tureen listed on Ebay for $585.00. I'm starting mine at low opening bid.
This would look great displayed on a kitchen curio cabinet or display shelf. Great addition to a pottery collection.
