I have been playing horns for 62 years...collecting and restoring vintage trumpets and cornets, producing custom finishes, and building custom horns for 51 years. Over the decades I amassed a vast trumpet/ cornet collection. During the past few years I have thinned out the herd and continue to do so. All my horns are gig ready...cleaned, valves adj...usted & aligned, and with new corks & felts when necessary.
PLEASE LOOK AT THE OTHER ITEMS I HAVE LISTEDFor your consideration, here is a completely original 50's example of one of the most sought after vintage cup mutes with a maple resonator...a favorite of Clifford Brown. The aluminum cup can be removed by loosening the collar holding it in place...you now have a straight mute. Additionally, the mute is fully adjustable to fit most any bell throat. With non adjustable cup mutes, one needs to add or sand off cork to provide the correct gap between the mute and bell rim. With the Shastock, just loosen the collar and slide the cup forward or backward to achieve the proper gap. Paint, label, and corks are original, and the cup is perfectly round. One cork has a small piece missing. The most glaring blemish is the two spots of corrosion inside the cup caused by saliva dripping from the bell. However, they can't be seen when the cup is in place. I think the photos tell the true story as to its condition.
