Leica Leitz Wetzlar 20cm F4. 5 200mm Rare Arri - S Cine Lens 35mm 4k Arriflex
Item History & Price
Professionally adapted for 35mm motion picture cinematography
It's my understanding that this vintage Wetzlar was converted to an Arri-S mount back in the 1960's for use in shooting nature-oriented documentary footage.
It's the only Leica lens I've ever come across in a motion picture mount, so without question it's definitely a rare bird in that respect.
Condition-wise, its focus and ape...rture rings both operate smoothly. There's NO haze, mold, separation, scratches, or cleaning marks. There's several minor imperfections to its front coating and a few interior specks of micro dust.
Cosmetically, there's some paint wear on its barrel. All things considered, for a commercially-employed 1960's-era telephoto it's in quite splendid condition.
I've included several random pics I took with the prime this past St. Patrick's Day weekend (2019). The close-up shots seen below were achieved by mounting the lens slightly forward in my Arri-S to Sony E-mount adapter, essentially creating an extension tube effect. The photo of the tiny transistor radio was taken handheld with my NEX-3 at a distance of approximately 10 feet.
Beneath it is a crop of that same image at 100% showing the remarkable resolving power that this 50+ year old Leitz is still capable of!

NOTE: Due to mounting costs on my feature film project, all equipment and assets not presently being utilized need to be turned back into spendable assets ASAP to cover stock, processing and scanning fees. I'll be listing many more items in the near future, all priced to sell!

=================================================================================NOTE: All proceeds from auction sales are being devoted entirely to the creation of my first feature length film. Set in the 1960's, the flick is a sentimental ode to classic Japanese sci-fi cinema. Despite its minuscule budget, the project is jam-packed with giant mutated meanies, flying saucers, classic hot rods and daringly-dressed vixens. All realized with traditional 35mm cameras and practical, old school FX.
Absolutely NO CGI whatsoever!
Should any kind person purchase one of my items, they'll be directly funding my small-scale efforts to keep the fast-vanishing art of celluloid filmmaking alive.
