Original Description:
Genuine MURANO Beach Sea Glass art from Venice, Italy!
Here is your chance to own a very rare piece of Sea Glass!
This piece is an authentic Murano island find from Venice in Italy. It is a piece of art glass, clear glass with colored glass splotches.
There is no other piece that looks like this, all are unique and one of a kind!

(The coin is shown to compare size)

Placing a date of manufacture on sea glass is nearly impossible but the styles of glass and colors d...ate to the 1940's to 1960's.

These are found in the waters at the north shore of Murano island near Venice island in Italy. The actual location is private and I will not share it!
Murano island has been the designated island for glassblowers for hundreds of years by order of the Venetian government. Some shops would dump their scraps or so called 'end of day' glass into the waters around the island. Many shops dumped glass into the water right outside their own shops, others would haul them to the north shore which is out of sight and dump them in the water there.Recently there was a glass blowing furnace that was caught dumping scrap glass on the tide plains to the north east of Murano island.
On Murano island where the tour boat docks there is a lighthouse, at low tide you can see a vast array of sea glass around there but you might be discouraged by any locals watching you trying to pick it up, they love yelling at people doing that...

These pieces were found many years ago while snorkeling and speargun fishing, actually underwater between 9-15 feet of water. They aren't easy to get to and I don't suggest anyone go alone because there are strong currents and other factors that make it dangerous.

The Murano Sea Glass pieces like these are extremely rare and people who have them don't seem to want to let them go.
They are very comparable to the UK Seaham 'end of day' or 'Multis' and the art glass found in Davenport and Santa Cruz, California.
On Facebook search for the page titled 'Sea Glass from Greece'. There is lots of information there about Greek sea glass and the Murano sea glass as well with numerous pictures we took while there exploring.
If you are interested in going there, here's some tips for visiting Venice and Murano/Burano:There are around 100 glass factories on Murano island! Themost interesting glass factories and ateliers on Murano aren't open to visitors, for two reasons:They're in the business of making glass, not entertaining tourists;Master glass artisans have spent years refining their proprietarytechniques and don't want competitors taking notes. Still, as you walk around Murano, you're likely to find mass-market fornacior furnaces that welcome tourists. The V.I.A. factory is a good example:
Fromthe Colonna waterbus stop, turn left as you exit the boat platform and walkalong the water until you reach a "Fornace Glass" sign on a door below theCalle S. Cipriano street sign. Pass beneath the entrance sign, follow the sidewalk and enter thebuilding toview a glassmaking demonstration for a small fee that can be creditedagainst a purchase from the factory's shop. The demonstration takes less than 10 minutes, but it'sinteresting if you haven't seen a glass furnace.
Look for open factories on weekday mornings. Don't count on much actionduring the lunch hour (which can run from noon or 1 p.m. untilmid-afternoon).In Venice, you're likely to be approached by representatives of touristyfactory showrooms that offer free boat trips to Murano. If you accept, beprepared for a high-pressure sales pitch. (I'd recommend getting to Muranoby public transportation, which isquick, easy, and pressure-free.)Ifyou're a serious glass collector or buyer, you may be able to visit some ofthe more artistic fornaci by appointment. we'd suggest making arrangementsthrough a gallery, dealer, or decorator who has contacts in Murano. Glass factories are normally closed during August, though a fewtourist-oriented demonstration furnaces may stay open. (Check with theVenice tourist office during your visit.)When in Venice, don't stay there overnight. Everything costs a lot more in Venice because everything has to be brought there by boat and there is also a duty/tax per person staying in Venice overnight. Go to the mainland and find a hotel inland away from the shoreline.
Prices vary from shop to shop, Venice to Murano. Some prices can be higher in Venice, or lower, it also depends on location.Be aware of the Chinese imports passed off as Murano. Dull, muddy colors usually means it's a Chinese copy.I do not have any association with any other sellers on ebay, etsy or anywhere else online, especially with the seller in Florida selling fake Murano sea glass that is obviously broken glass which has been sandblasted. Stop buying fake sea glass!!!

I personally collected these Murano glass pieces available for sale with my cousin and uncle with the proper local Venetian government salvage permits at a high cost to us. If you go there with intentions to remove sea glass or anything with a value over 1 euro-cent without permits you may face imprisonment by the police, be aware of that! (Sono ammessi solo italiani.)
