Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:84613 | Country/Region of Manufacture: United States |
Antique 19th C SHAKER Tin PUSH UP Early Pan Base CANDLESTICK Early Lighting - This is a really nice EARLY LIGHTING DEVICE in nice original condition. It is a nicely crafted push up Pan Base candle holder or candlestick made most likely by a talented Shaker Community Tinsmith- most likely Enfield but could be Canterbury as well. We were informed that it is Shaker made when we purchased it but we cannot guarantee that as we have no documented history on it. It is early as it has a... wonderful early cleated or tabbed candle opening at the top of the stick. It has really finely done stepped lines in the pan base- most are not seen with this much work. It also has a really nice fingerhold that is sloped and soldered on the pan base. It is a nice classic form and the tin has nicely aged patina. The tin push-up has an early and solid solder repair- see photos. It measures approximately 6" tall - the tin pan base measures approx 6" in diameter.
