Item is like new and has been stored flat and unfolded. I'm not sure of the artist or the origin of the artwork. See more about the story behind this very rare concert flyer. There is a line in the middle where the item was originally folded. Back the flyer is white without... any writing or marks.
Definitely for the true Johnny Cash fan. VERY RARE! In fact, there are likely only 3 of these in existence and this is 1 of 3 in my possession.
May 31, 1986, Johnny Cash and June Carter were special entertainment for a free concert celebrating the cornerstone dedication of Old Galveston Square. Johnny Cash opened and then followed by June Carter and the Carter Sisters. The crowd cheered and sang while enjoying free food and drinks. See more about the overall event below.
As a special tribute for Johnny, many of his album covers had been enlarged to at least 5x original sizer and were hung from the railing on the second floor of the open entry of the Tremont House. Imagine what Johnny and June expressed when they walked into the lobby and saw all the albums hung. All those were shipped to Johnny.
The Tremont had been restored and owned by George Mitchell as part of the rejuvenation of the Strand area of Galveston. The Tremont is now owned by Wyndham Grand Hotels and has 104 rooms and 15 suites.
Cash performed a medley of patriotic songs of Texas and the South, as the concert was a salute to the volunteers and heroes who helped win Texas freedom. He also performed all the crowds favorites including Ring of Fire. Cash joined the Houston Symphony for a rousing finale with June Carter and the Carter Family.
This comes from my personal collection.
Happy Bidding!
