Here is an unused authentic SUNDAY WOODSTOCK ticket for August 17th, 1969.
Sunday tickets are the hardest to find out of all the common $8 red print tickets you see on Ebay or elsewhere. Look around and you'll notice that the most common by far are the Friday tickets, then come the also fairly plentiful Saturday tickets. Both of those are almost all on the light grey or light green ticket stock. The orange ticket stock was the least use...d, so it is the least seen and hardest to find and the orange Sunday tickets are the least available of all. Sunday also happens to be the ticket for Jimi Hendrix, the top billing at this massive and hugely successful cultural event.
This ticket is in NM- condition with almost no handling wear or flaws. The ticket will look exactly the same as the one in the photos except the # will be slightly different.
This ticket was printed by the GLOBE TICKET COMPANY on special presses once located in Woburn, Massachusetts, which are now long gone as they were dismantled in the mid 70's. You will notice the genuine card stock which has their famous watermark actually webbed inside the card stock. This alone authenticates the ticket and makes them basically impossible to reproduce (if for no other reason, the cost would be prohibitive). This ticket was meant to have been sold on-site on Saturday, but very few were ever sold as the gates were torn down sometime on Friday and the show effectively became free right from the 1st day! Over the last 30+ years, many of the tickets have been haphazardly found and given to relatives and friends of those close to the promoters or vault company where they were originally kept after the festival. Eventually they have made their way to market and here is one of them.
Here is an excerpt from a prominent Beatles website (rarebeatles.com) that touches on the ticket printing process:
"Tickets, unlike massed produced commercial products, were only available regionally and in most cases are somewhat difficult to find. The printing of the tickets themselves was a fairly complex process that sometimes required many passes through various printing presses. Ticket manufacturers like Globe used to require at least 2 weeks to complete a print job. Tickets were usually printed in sheets of twelve, with the perforations already in place for each ticket. Usually the text information on the ticket would be printed first (i.e. performer name, venue, price, etc.) If the text contained more than one color, the tickets would be run through a separate time for each color. Often, the tickets would again be run separately through a "Hiedelburg"-type press for the seat numbers, row numbers and section numbers to be printed. These types of tickets can be noted for the imprint that the seat numbers leave in the ticket. If the promoter were presenting more than one show, another batch of tickets would be printed in the same way but with a different date and/or time, and some form of distinct marking to assist in recognizing it as a ticket for the other performance."
