Th...ere is some wear on the canvas including some wear in the glazing and a scratch on Lincoln's forehead. There is also some wear on the gilded frame. The Illinois Watch Co. of Springfield, Ill., opened in 1869 as the Springfield Watch Co. One of the founders was a former law partner of Abraham Lincoln's. He and Lincoln shared an office in Springfield from 1837 to 1841. Rudolf Bohunek (1875-1939), who had a studio in Chicago, painted his original portrait of Lincoln in 1913. The Lithograph reproductions on canvas were given to dealers to display. Illinois Watch Co. was bought by Hamilton Watch Co. in 1927.
