Rare Mason's Ironstone Pink Vista Square Covered Serverfor Butter, Cheese, Sardines
Up for auction is a vintage Mason's square covered dish in their famous pink "Vista" pattern.
I have not found this particular item anywhere in this pattern!
It may be an alternative butter holder (...to the regular rectangular one), or possibly a server for cheese, sardines, or similar.
The tray measures 5-1/2" square; the lid is 3-1/2" square. The set together measures 3-1/2" to the top of the lid finial.
The tray has the back stamp shown below.
In nice condition with no chips or cracks but it does have staining around the inside lower rim:
