ANTIQUE 1890’s Gas andElectric combo pendant light fixture A beautiful gasand electric, late 19th century ceiling pendant light that would be awesomein an entry way, powder room or the master closet in your vintage home! Thefixture is all solid brass, with very high-quality satin cased glass shade andcandle fittings. The gas arm is a very dramatic and curves completely aroundthe ball shade, and has been wired and outfitted with a candelabra- based socketYou can use any styl...e of decorative bulb you choose. The fixtureshade, and glass candle pieces are a vivid raspberry color (very typicalVICTORIAN) and all are in excellent condition. The electricshade has a 3 ½ inch opening and slips over the bulb. The shade holder is also originalto the fixture, and the latest patent date printed on the brass is 1898. In addition, the fixture also retains its original GECo paddle turn key socket in excellent working order!I recently found avery similar fixture and the exact same shade in a lamp book which is a reproductionof a 1900 Williamson and Co. Lighting catalog. See the last two photos. This fixture is probably a couple of years older than the one in the catalogdue to the re-positioning of the gas key to the bottom in the 1900 model - whichmakes more sense and easier to access.
