Frankford Arsenal rare old original FLARING TOOL for use in the 1905 Field Reloading Set. Officially termed RESIZING PUNCH. Used with a wood mallet in the field for flaring the mouth of 30-40, + 30-03, + early 30-06 cartridge cases, just prior to inserting the 30 caliber projectile............Might also work on 8mm..... A few available, from old W. Stokes Kirk, of Philadelphia, 1876-1974............ Who got them from Frankford Arsenal in the 1920s. I had them for near...ly 50 years.........Not rusty, but roughened sides for finger grip in cold weather....... Each has faint or partial markings - RESIZING PUNCH F.A. S.H 1905...... SH is the inspector mark. Some may be J.M.G................ I will try to pick one that at least has the 1905 date mostly visible.........Can still be used today........
