Magnificent 19thc Black Forest oak carved pediment with fox head. Dating c.1870's.Excellent attention to detail on this fine Black Forest oak pediment. Carved in fine relief to the centre is a large fox head. Beautifully carved head. Flanking the head are leaves and hazelnuts/nuts which are intricately carved. Lovely scrolling detail to either end of the pediment. A fine and quality carved pediment.The pediment measures some 8.5" overall height x ...36.5" length. Fox head has height of some 7" and extends to a depth of approx. 3.5".. Across the ears it measures some 4.5".Condition is excellent and age commensurate overall with some damage/nibbling to the fox's ears but nothing of great import at all. Some other very minor nibbles to some leaves. Again, minimal. Please see all images. All as per images.
