Vintage Women ' S Jantzen Bathing Suit Black Lastex SZ 34 Skirt Over Shorts 1940 ' S

This vintage Jantzen black bathing has a label indicating it is made of Lastex. This material was invented by Dunlop the people who made tires. They developed a way to take thin strands of rubber and wrap them with threads from which they created foundation garments and swim suits in the 1940's. Advertising from that time reads "Lastex miracle yarn makes everything fit." Label says reg. US Pat Office. Another label reads Leavens Donlan , Shamokin Pennsylvania which was the store ...and place where the suit was sold.
The suit features the swimmer applique label on the front. On the body of the swimmer is Jantzen on the swim cap USA. It is the bloomer type with shorts.It has ties on the back. It is marked size 34. I've measured the best I can. The fabric does stretch. bust 34" waist 26" hips 28" length including straps 24.5"
It is ready to wear and in excellent condition no fading, tears, moth holes or stains.
