From a local estate, I was told by the lady I bought these from that these letters had hung on the wall of her father-in-law's office when he managed an A&P grocery store in Atlanta and that he had taken them with him when he retired. The letters are 9 3/4" tall and the ampersand is 5". They are jigsaw cut from pressboard with a thin lamination of bright red plastic on the front. They are drilled so that they can be hung on a wall or a board. T...here is a faint overspray of white paint dots on the A and & and the red plastic is a little damaged around one of the holes on the A. These were definitely made by hand because the cuts are not as exacting as a machined piece would be.
