Antique sterling silver ring with Charles M Robbins hallmark stamped inside of ring. Ring is a American Indian head design stamped into the face of the ring and crossed arrows stamped onto both flanks of ring. The ring has a classic souvenir design that was popular in the late 1800s to early 1900s. The ring band is cut. Ring is a size 5-5.25. Ring is bright and shiny. In addition to the ring being cut there is wear to the overall stamped design as wo...uld be expected of a piece of this age. It does not detract from the beauty and history of the piece.
Charles M. Robbins was born in Harwich, Massachusets on May 1, 1857, a son of Nathaniel and Lydia (Williams) Robbins. Nathaniel Robbins was a dentist by profession and was a prominent man in his town. He died in 1887. Charles M. Robbins was educated in the public schools and came to Attleborough in June 1875 where he learned the jewelry making business. He traveled on the road for nine years and in 1891 he established his business and earning a place in history as a manufacturer of military badges, emblems, coats of arms, flags and novelties. Charles retired a wealthy man in 1910. The business went through many mergers and changes and became well known for manufacturing souvenir spoons in the mid 20th century. The business continues on into the 21st century under it's most recent name in 2015 Engage2Excel.
