pre-WWI US Army Regulation Leather Belt Holster for the .38 Caliber Double Action Revolver, 4th Type - Marked Rock Island Arsenal 1904 - E. Battery 97th Unit Markings - Excellent ConditionUp for auction is pre-WWI US Army Regulation Leather Belt Holster for the .38 Caliber Double Action Revovler, 4th Type. It is the "altered" version, that added the reenforcing stitching below the US Logo. Th...is is a vintage old military belt holster. It is used, see photo's for Condition. The leather is still soft and supple. No crazing. No tears in the leather, some minor surfac wrinkling on the folds. The leather has darkened with age, but still retains most of the rich russet brown color. It has a nice US oval logo on the front. And the four line marking on the rear: Rock Island Arsenal 1904 T.C. The markings are clear and readable. This is a nice example of the model holster. This holster IS NOT a Left Hand design. It was originally designed to be carried on the Right Side of the waist with the gun in the "Butt Forward" position.
