** THIS WEEK AND NEXT WEEK I AM SELLING A COLLECTION OF ANCIENT GREEK PAINTED POTTERY FRAGMENTS, DATING TO CIRCA 500 BC, AND THEREFORE APPROX 2, 500 YEARS OLD. THESE ALL CAME FROM A SINGLE COLLECTION WHICH I PURCHASED OVER 10 YEARS AGO FROM A LADY WHOSE FATHER WORKED ON VARIOUS ARCHAEOLOGICAL DIGS PRIMARILY IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE, IN THE 1950s AND 60s. THE COLLECTION CONSISTED OF NUMEROUS ROMAN SAMIAN WARE FRAGMENTS ALL FROM CENTRAL GAUL, AND A SMALLER NUMBER OF OLDER ANCIENT GREEK... POTTERY FRAGMENTS FROM GREEK COLONIES IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE.  **

THIS FRAGMENT WITH A PARTIAL HANDLE HAS A PAINTED PORPOISE/FISH SWIMMING TO THE LEFT.
