M1951 Fishtail Parka First Pattern Shell Size Large Mod, M51 Parka Liner
Item History & Price
FIRST PATTERN M-1951 PARKA SHELLPLUS MATCHING M-51 FRIEZE LINERSIZE LARGE.A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE.
Parka shellRare first pattern heavy sateen M-51 Fishtail parka. This genuine original period parka, was produced for U.S. Army troops serving in Korea from 1951 to 1953.These early heavy weight sateen first patt models, were only in production for one year, before they were deemed to costly to manufacture, and production switched to the second pattern parkas, made from a cheaper..., lighter weight poplin fabric. The heavy weight cotton sateen, is very similar to material used on the M-48 parkas, but more fine in appearance and feel. The parka shell comes complete with a matching sized freeze wool liner, both shell and liner retain their original manufactures ink stamps, which are perfectly legible and state size, information and specification, both shell and liner are ink stamped large, and fit perfectly together. This classic Fishtail parka set is in dead-stock near new condition. Please just take a look at the pictures. The colour retention is superb, it appears to have never been washed, and so retains lovely that like new sheen about it.
The only minus I can add about this fantastic parka are couple of very faint storage marks very very hard to spot at all, and one missing closure snap on one of the fishtails, other then that it's pretty much as new. Please see pictures for details. These heavy cotton sateen model were the first incarnation of the M-51 fishtail parka, this one was manufactured by Hudson Garment Co Inc on the 22nd May 1951, not even a full couple of months after the M-1951 fishtail parka pattern was approved on 12th March 1951.Oversized Talon zip and zipper in perfect working order, woven fabric zipper pull and metal wire keeper still present and in A1 condition.
M-1951 Frieze Liner.Mint late Frieze wool type liner, dated 1953.Matching size large that's fit this parka shell perfectly.Button in for extra warmth or to complete that Mod look.A nice dead stock mint example, see pictures.Manufacture date, pattern, spec and information stamp as new, very clear and legible.Percfect colour on the Rayon side, unwashed, unissued, perfectly green with that super shiny that only mint liners display.
